Treasure Nest provides residential care for young people with behavioural and emotional difficulties aged between 8 and 17 years old.
The home’s primarily objectives are:
To provide a safe, caring and stimulating environment, in which the day-to-day needs of each young person can be met; and their potential for personal development positively encouraged.
To help children and young people address and resolve behavioural and emotional difficulties as identified in their personal Care Plans.
To enable the child / young person understand their rights and link with their responsibilities to society and other people.
To help the children / young people better understand the issues that have resulted in their needing to be “Looked After” by the Placing Authority.
To offer children / young people individual time and support as they grow and develop, this will enable them to sustain positive changes in their lives. This may be to a foster carer, independence or if deemed safe to do, return to their own family or kinship networks.
To work in close co-operation with all other significant agencies / adults involved in the young peoples’ lives, to achieve the set aims and objectives as laid out in individual Care and Placement Plan or Pathway Plan.
To ensure that where admissions are made to the Home on an emergency basis, the staff team will inform the first available Looked After Children (LAC) meeting, if any specialised services are required from other agencies such as the Health, Education or Youth Offending Service.
To ensure these agencies, along with others, work in partnership with Treasure Nest and as such, will support, inform or provide on-going assessments during the placement of a young person.
To ensure where the risk assessment of a child / young person deems them or others to be at serious risk from any form of abuse, whilst they are living together at Treasure Nest, positive actions will be taken, to reduce the level of risk.
We believe that young people should be recognised, respected, consulted and given a choice. We also believe that they should have a good quality of life, and given equal chances in order to live positive and productive lives.
